Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho has sent a serious warning to the federal government saying it will not tolerate any attacks on the South-East by the Nigerian Army.

In a statement by his media aide, Olayomi Koiki, Igboho said attacks on the South-East is an attack on the Yoruba people, urging the government to put a stop to raids in the South-East region.

He further stated that if there are further attacks on people of the South-East, Yoruba Nation Now agitators will mobilise and support them. It was, however, not stated the kind of support that will be given.

The statement read, “We would like to inform the Federal Government Of Nigeria that any attack on the South-East is an attack on the Yorubas.

“Biafra people have been targeted by the Nigeria Army and if there are any further attacks on them, we would have no other option but to support our brothers and sisters in Biafraland.”

Buratai Asked for Igboho to be Handed Over to Him But Was Told Benin Republic Follow Rule of Law

Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana has revealed that Tukur Buratai had asked Yoruba agitator, Sunday Igboho to be handed over to him.

Recall that Buratai is Nigeria’s ambassador to Benin Republic.

However, his request was turned down as Benin Republic insisted that the country follows rule of law.

In an interview on Channels Television on Thursday July 29, Falana claimed that Buratai made the request when he had not submitted his letter of credence to Benin Republic’s President. He also said that he learnt there were attempts to throw Igboho in a waiting plane for return to Nigeria.

Falana said;

“In the case of Sunday Igboho, again despite my disagreement with him, I came out to say you cannot just throw him into a waiting plane as we were told, it was attempted.

“You have to go to court. You have to make a request under international law, under the ECOWAS convention on extradition.

“The government of Nigeria is requested to submit an extradition request to the government of Benin Republic and so when the plenipotentiary, General Yusuf Buratai (retired), who at that time had not submitted his letters of credence asked that Igboho be handed over to him.

“He was told, ‘sorry, we operate the rule of law here’. That is why that matter is still in court.”

Noting that he is opposed to the campaign of the balkanisation of Nigeria, Falana however added that the law guarantees the rights of self-determination.

Speaking further, the senior lawyer explained that amid the agitations in some quarters that the nation should split, the Federal Government owes it a duty to convince the agitators by reposing confidence on the corporate existence of Nigeria.

Stressing that it is not a criminal offence for some persons to make separatists demands, Falana said the current administration should respect human rights in line with Article 20 of the African Charter on Human Rights.

He said;

“Personally, I am strenuously opposed to the campaign for the balkanisation of Nigeria because I believe the masses of our people are oppressed by the ruling class and imperialism.

“To that extent, I have a fundamental ideological disagreement with those who are calling for the breakup of the country along ethnic lines.

“If a group of people decides to fight for the breakup of the country, the duty of the government is to try as much as possible to convince them to repose confidence in the corporate existence of Nigeria.”

Jerigbe Agom Jerigbe has been declared as the legitimate senator representing Cross River North.

The new order was given by the Court of Appeal in Calabar, according to a report by TheNation.

The court by so doing, removed Senator Steven Odey from the position of representing the people from the region.

It declared him the lawful candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in the December 5, 2020 By-election for the seat.

The three-man Appeal Tribunal headed by Hon. Justice Chioma I. Nwosu also invalidated the certificate of return earlier issued to Steven Odey by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and directed it should be withdrawn.

Nigerians have been warned to avoid joining Pastor Tunde Bakare’s Nigeria-for-Nigeria movement because it is not of God.

Pastor Tunde Bakare is the leading pastor in charge of the Citadel Global Community Church.

Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church gave the warning on Friday.

Primate Ayodele warned that the movement by Pastor Bakare is not of God, because a major disaster awaits Nigerians if they join the movement.

Speaking with DAILY POST, the clergyman stressed that the movement was aimed at putting Nigerians in further bondage.

Bakare had a few days ago launched the “Nigeria-for-Nigeria” group.

Addressing his members, Bakare had said the new group would be greater than the “Save Nigeria Group”, a pressure group which he convened in 2010.

“I am going to champion it and it will go like wildfire across this nation. Nigeria-for-Nigeria will be bigger than Save Nigeria Group,” the fiery pastor had said.

However, Primate Ayodele cautioned Nigerians against joining the group.

He noted that Bakare created the group to further his political ambition and not because it’s God’s agenda.

According to Primate Ayodele: “Tunde Bakare’s Nigeria for Nigeria movement is not divine, it is another means to put Nigerians in bondage again. Nigerians should not join this movement or else, another disaster awaits us.

“I am not talking as a politician but as God’s mouthpiece, Tunde Bakare’s Nigeria for Nigeria movement is another agenda for his political ambition and not God’s agenda.

“God is angry with the present government, those who have corrupted the system, Nigeria is stagnant, let’s stop deceiving ourselves, though a messiah will still come to our rescue.”
